Dreamers from all walks of life
Fearlessly calling out their dreams to be heard,
Buzzing vigorously like mosquitoes.

I walk past—

Right through all their confident beliefs.

They stop.
Turn.
And stare.
Immediately identifying

A Non-Dreamer

Amidst their self-important merriment.

I destroy their spirit.
Darken their light.
Totally amiss in all of their right.

Assessment piercing like daggers

Daring me to
Fight.
Compete.
Simply disagree.

But no, not me.

A Non-Dreamer.

I merely stop with my hands
Stuffed in my pockets,
My head down.

Standing adrift.

Every Dreamer
Examining
Reconsidering
Waiting

For me to call out my dream,
Make myself heard.

But—

I have no dream.
I have no dream.
No dreams at all.
Don’t you understand that at all?  

I’m just trying to just get by,
When all I really want to do is die…

A sudden noise recalls me,
As I shake my head.
